PHOTO-SONG PREVIEW: “Pop Punk High” – The PIT Loft

Pop Punk High opened March 3 at The PIT Loft, located at 154 West 29th Street. General admission tickets are $7 and are available for purchase in advance online here, and student tickets are $1 at the door with valid student ID.

Pop Punk High follows Derek, a young wannabe pop punk front man, on his journey to become king of Pop Punk High and win Amanda Bunkface’s love. It seems all but impossible for a loser like Derek, but when he finds a lamp in his attic containing the ghost/genie of a certain pop punk princess, his wildest dreams may be possible after all.

With a score composed by Ben Lapidus, former frontman of pop punk outfit Best Intentions, and current frontman of alternative band Ambler, the show blends pop punk authenticity with a book full of inventive, obscene humor from Anderson Cook, the creator of The Disembodied Hand That Fisted Everyone to Death – the Musical!, the low-budget smash hit that played various theatres in NYC for over a year and was subsequently licensed by the Boston Conservatory.
